The author has a B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics
from Tennessee Technological University. He has a
Ph.D in Mathematics from Louisiana State University
(LSU). During his stay at LSU, he served as a State
Board of Regents Research Fellow in Mathematics. In
his final year at LSU, he served as a graduate
teaching assistant and received an award for
teaching excellence.
At LSU, he also served three years as president of
the men's volleyball club, starting for four years
as an outside hitter. He served for one year as the
Math Department representative to the Graduate
School Council. He survived (kind of) the Mardi
Gras experience in New Orleans on four occasions
while at LSU.
The author now teaches Mathematics and Computer
Science at Lake Forest College, in the far north
suburbs of Chicago. He is still an avid volleyball
player, playing in the USAV Great Lakes Region, and
having participated in the USAV national tournament
on four occasions. He has played in volleyball
tournaments in 14 different states. His other
hobbies include weight lifting, playing pool, and
cranking out heavy metal guitar riffs on his Les
Paul.
